I present our NEW Halfway House Hero - Luis Velez, one of our students. I learned that Luis set up a GoFundMe page for Joyce Obrir, a homeless woman he met outside a Walmart Parking Lot. The page is intended to raise funds for Joyce to stay in a motel until she can get her place.
"She is an amazing woman that currently sleeps in her wheelchair at a Walmart Parking Lot every night," he wrote on his GoFundMe page. "When Walmart opens, she stays in the store all day for the air conditioning and to wash up in the restroom. When Walmart closes she goes out to sleep in the parking lot." Despite not having a place to live and being handicapped, Luis said. " She has so much joy and spends a lot of her time reading the Bible. She truly inspires me."
It's not every day that you get to meet a person like Luis. As Jim Rohn said, you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Imagine how your life can be when you're surrounded by people like Luis.
