Where to Find Corrections and Reentry Housing Contracts (Free Tools Most People Miss)
You can't win a contract you never see. 👀 The good news: almost every government housing opportunity is posted publicly — you just have to know where to look and check it consistently.
🔎 Federal: SAM.gov Contract Opportunities
The Federal Bureau of Prisons posts Residential Reentry Center and home confinement solicitations on SAM.gov. You can search for free — no registration needed just to look.
Search terms to try: "residential reentry," "reentry center," "home confinement," "transitional housing," "halfway house"
Filter by your state and set up a saved search so new notices come to your email.
Watch for Sources Sought and Requests for Information (RFIs). These come before the real solicitation. Responding puts your name in front of the agency early.
🏛️ State: your procurement portal
Every state has an official bid portal run by its purchasing or procurement office. Search it for:
"reentry," "transitional housing," "community corrections," "residential services," "recovery residence"
Your state Department of Corrections, Parole Board, and Department of Health/Behavioral Health as buying agencies
Register as a vendor on the portal — many states only send bid notices to registered vendors.
🏘️ County and city: the hidden market
County procurement pages, sheriff's offices, and county reentry or human services departments post smaller opportunities that big providers ignore. Call your county's purchasing office and simply ask: "How do you buy transitional housing or reentry beds?"

🗓️ The habit that wins
Block 30 minutes every Monday. Check SAM.gov, your state portal, and your county page. Log what you find in a simple spreadsheet. Consistency beats talent in government contracting. 💪🏾
